Jeffrey R. Kirsch, MD, FASA

Dr. Jeffrey Kirsch is a professor and associate dean for faculty affairs at Medical College of Wisconsin, as well as the senior medical director for programmatic excellence at Froedtert Hospital. He is also chair-emeritus of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Kirsch completed his residency in anesthesiology and fellowships in neuroanesthesiology and neurocritical care at Johns Hopkins. During his 20 years of service at Johns Hopkins, he was vice chair of education and training and the residency program director. He previously served as a member of the ACGME Review Committee for Anesthesiology. Dr. Kirsch is past president of the Society of Associations of Academic Anesthesiology, an organization that supports the education for all academic anesthesiology chairs and program directors. He also serves as president of the Association of University Anesthesiologists, an organization of approximately 700 elected academic anesthesiologist members. His research interests relate to understanding the mechanism of brain injury from stroke and general and local anesthetics.
